Depa & Ericsson Jointly Commence Thailand Digital Valley

- Collaboration will focus on driving digitization in Thailand in support of the country’s 4.0 vision
- Ericsson’s leading 5G solutions will form a testbed for trials of new wireless and network technologies, spectrum sharing, as well as new applications and services for Thailand.

Thailand Digital Valley, located 50 miles east of Bangkok, is expected to become Southeast Asia’s new digital hub that supports Thailand and the region’s digital transformation. The project is forecast to create around 20,000 new jobs and attract more than 5 billion baht worth of foreign direct investment annually.

Ericsson and depa recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate towards driving 5G based digital transformation in Thailand. The collaboration entails sharing best practices, advanced understanding and Ericsson’s state-of-the-art technology to accelerate Thailand’s journey towards becoming a digital economy.

As part of the MoU, Ericsson and depa will establish an innovation lab (Innolab) in depa’s Thailand Digital Valley in Chonburi province that will serve as a 5G testbed and service center for trials of new wireless and network technologies, spectrum sharing, as well as new applications and services in Thailand.

“As a 5G leader, who has been in Thailand for 117 years, we are committed to leveraging our leading, trusted solutions and global ecosystem of partners to drive the digital transformation of the country. We look forward to further working with depa, Thai operators, enterprises and start-ups to unlock the potential of 5G, through the co-creation of 5G use cases,” said Dr. Jesada Sivaraks, Head of Government and Industry Relations, Ericsson Thailand.

“Thailand Digital Valley will play a significant role in uplifting the digital ecosystem of Thailand and prompt the country to become Southeast Asia’s digital hub. It will be the key driving forces for the digital industry, investment atmosphere and global trade and collaboration,” said Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, depa’s President & CEO.

According to depa, Thailand Digital Valley will become the key digital ecosystem that lays the foundation for Thailand to be the new center of research and development, It will support co-creation of new hardware and smart devices as well as relevant technologies such as Big Data, IoT, AI, Software Convergence, Cloud Innovation and other digital content and services, including animations, games and e-sports.

Ericsson is a global 5G leader and today powers 147 live 5G networks in 63 countries with 24 live 5G standalone networks across the world.

สำนักงานส่งเสริมเศรษฐกิจดิจิทัล (depa) และ อีริคสัน (NASDAQ: ERIC) ประเดิมขับเคลื่อนความร่วมมือในโครงการ Thailand Digital Valley ของดีป้า เพื่อมุ่งพัฒนาซิลิคอนวัลเลย์เวอร์ชั่นประเทศไทย

ภายในงานเปิดตัว มีการนำเสนอข้อมูลจากเหล่าพันธมิตรหลัก ประกอบด้วย สภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย ผู้ให้บริการด้านเทคโนโลยีและโซลูชันระดับโลก และสตาร์ทอัพ

Thailand Digital Valley ตั้งอยู่ห่างจากกรุงเทพฯ ไปทางทิศตะวันออกระยะทาง 50 ไมล์ ตั้งเป้าเป็นศูนย์กลางด้านดิจิทัลแห่งภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ที่สามารถรองรับการทำดิจิทัลทรานส์ฟอร์เมชันทั้งในประเทศไทยและในระดับภูมิภาค โดยคาดว่าจะเกิดการจ้างงานใหม่ในพื้นที่ประมาณ 20,000 ราย และดึงดูดการลงทุนโดยตรงจากต่างประเทศคิดเป็นมูลค่ามากกว่า 5 พันล้านบาทต่อปี

เมื่อไม่นานมานี้ อีริคสันและดีป้ายังได้ลงนามในบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือ (MoU) เพื่อขับเคลื่อนการทำดิจิทัลทรานส์ฟอร์เมชันผ่านการใช้เครือข่าย 5G ในประเทศไทย ซึ่งความร่วมมือดังกล่าวจะประกอบด้วยการแบ่งปันแนวทางปฏิบัติที่ดีที่สุด ความรู้ความเข้าใจขั้นสูง และเทคโนโลยีล้ำสมัยของอีริคสันเพื่อเร่งเดินหน้าประเทศไทยไปสู่เศรษฐกิจดิจิทัล

ส่วนหนึ่งในบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือนี้ยังระบุว่า อีริคสันและดีป้าจะจัดตั้งห้องปฏิบัติการด้านนวัตกรรม (Innolab) ขึ้นใน Thailand Digital Valley ของดีป้าในจังหวัดชลบุรี เพื่อใช้เป็นศูนย์ทดสอบเครือข่าย 5G และศูนย์บริการสำหรับการทดสอบเทคโนโลยีเครือข่ายไร้สายและเครือข่ายใหม่ ๆ อาทิ การแบ่งปันคลื่นความถี่ (Spectrum Sharing) ตลอดจนการพัฒนาแอปพลิเคชันและบริการดิจิทัลใหม่ ๆ ในประเทศไทย

จากข้อมูลของดีป้าระบุว่า Thailand Digital Valley จะกลายเป็นระบบนิเวศดิจิทัลสำคัญ และเป็นฐานรากของประเทศไทยในการเป็นศูนย์กลางด้านการวิจัยและพัฒนาแห่งใหม่ โดยจะสนับสนุนการร่วมกันคิดค้นและพัฒนาฮาร์ดแวร์และอุปกรณ์อัจฉริยะใหม่ ๆ (Hardware and Smart Devices) รวมถึงเทคโนโลยีด้านการใช้ข้อมูลขนาดใหญ่ (BigData) เทคโนโลยี IoT, ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI), ซอฟต์แวร์คอนเวอร์เจนซ์ (Software Convergence), นวัตกรรมคลาวด์ (Cloud Innovation) และบริการเนื้อหาดิจิทัล รวมถึงบริการดิจิทัลในด้านอื่น ๆ ครอบคลุมไปถึงอุตสาหกรรมแอนิเมชัน เกม และอีสปอร์ต

Ericsson collaborates with Intel on advancing Thailand’s 5G usage and adoption

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Intel will collaborate on the development of 5G use cases that can accelerate the digitalization of enterprises to support the Thailand 4.0 vision.

Intel and Ericsson will collaborate on their respective technology expertise to show how communications service providers (CSPs) can accelerate 5G adoption and expand their business-to-business (B2B) engagements based on 5G use-cases. Amongst the areas identified for collaboration are the joint development of enterprise use cases in select verticals such as manufacturing, transport, and logistics. In addition, it involves showcasing the role 5G connectivity can play in building sustainable and resilient digital economies.

Both Ericsson and Intel are committed to enabling the Thailand Industry 4.0 vision through 5G technology.

อีริคสัน ร่วมมือกับ อินเทล ขยายศักยภาพการใช้ 5G ของประเทศไทย

อีริคสัน (NASDAQ: ERIC) และอินเทลจะร่วมมือกันพัฒนายูสเคส 5G ที่สามารถเร่งการใช้เทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล (Digitalization) ขององค์กรธุรกิจพร้อมสนับสนุนวิสัยทัศน์ Thailand 4.0

Ericsson retains top ranking in Frost Radar™ Global 5G Network Infrastructure Market 2023 Report

รายงาน Frost Radar™ ฉบับล่าสุด เผยอีริคสันยังครองอันดับ 1 ผู้นำตลาดโครงสร้างพื้นฐานเครือข่าย 5G ทั่วโลก

Ericsson retains top ranking in Frost Radar™ Global 5G Network Infrastructure Market 2023 Report

Ericsson has been ranked as the leader in the Frost Radar™ 5G Network Infrastructure Market 2023 report for the third consecutive year, showing that the company’s enhanced efforts to invest in technology leadership for customers’ benefit continue to pay off.

Apart from retaining its top ranking, Ericsson has also gained important recognition for developing energy-efficient 5G RAN solutions that cater to customers’ needs.

Maintaining top ranking in the Frost Radar™ report over the past years has shown Ericsson’s consistent ability to scale its innovations and growth in the field, according to the yearly report from business consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. It also reaffirms Ericsson’s leadership in the 5G network infrastructure market, which spans radio access networks (RAN), transport networks, and core networks.

Fredrik Jejdling, Executive Vice President and Head of Networks at Ericsson, says: “It is rewarding to see our sustained efforts to increase the energy efficiency of Ericsson 5G solutions recognized in this Frost Radar report. We will continue to invest in technology leadership centered on innovation, openness, and growing our customers’ business.”

Commenting on Ericsson’s top result, Troy Morley, Industry Principal, at Frost & Sullivan’s Information & Communication Technology group, says: “Ericsson has proven its ability to scale its innovations globally with 2G, 3G, 4G, and now 5G. The company invests significant amounts in R&D, and this is essential in a market in which technology is always evolving.”

Ericsson currently powers 145 live 5G networks in 63 countries, which is the highest level that Frost & Sullivan has seen publicly reported.

“As a leader in the 4G infrastructure market, Ericsson enters the 5G market with a large customer base,” says Morley. “The company has done an excellent job keeping its current customers and adding new customers.”

Commenting further on the report, Morley says: “Energy efficiency is now the buzzword. While early 5G RAN solutions focused on proving the technology, Ericsson’s current 5G RAN solutions tout being smaller and lighter and saving energy, which is answering its customers’ needs.”
