Kyndryl Launches AI Innovation Lab in Singapore

The new Lab will employ approximately 50 AI professionals to accelerate AI adoption and support growth agendas across Southeast Asia

Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, today announced the launch of its ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore. The Lab will offer responsible enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) solutions with advanced security features across Southeast Asia. This announcement follows Kyndryl’s recent investments in the United Kingdom and France, demonstrating its commitment to create regional hubs of AI talent, drive innovation and support national growth agendas.

Kyndryl’s new ASEAN AI Innovation Lab will advise customers in adopting AI capabilities, merging technologies and software and platform engineering solutions through Kyndryl Consult. The Lab will also include a co-creation experience with Kyndryl Vital, allowing customers to tackle complex and real-world business challenges through design-led thinking. It will employ approximately 50 local AI specialists, including data scientists, data engineers and AI developers, and help organizations understand responsible AI technologies with use cases and live demonstrations.

Kyndryl is working with Google Cloud and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) to help Singapore-based companies accelerate AI transformation through the AI Cloud Takeoff program under DISG’s Enterprise Compute Initiative (ECI). As a launch partner for Kyndryl’s ASEAN AI Innovation Lab, Google Cloud is providing access to Vertex AI, BigQuery, Agent Development Kit (ADK), and Google Agentspace to enable AI solution development and business growth.

Customers Will Leverage the Lab for Accelerated AI Adoption

The Lab will help customers operationalize AI through proven infrastructure and cloud-native architectures. Working with Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) and Singapore’s top universities and research institutions, customers can cultivate AI talent and build reusable assets and services to help future-proof their workforce and innovation efforts. Additionally, the Lab’s AI experts will help organizations implement robust governance, privacy and security frameworks to address compliance and regulatory mandates, while also creating energy-efficient and cost-effective AI solutions that will reduce carbon footprints and computing costs.

For example, across ASEAN countries:

  • In hospitality: Frasers Hospitality worked with Kyndryl to enhance the processes through which operational expertise is documented and streamlined. A solution was jointly built to transform training videos and add interactive multimedia features and multilingual capabilities to scale across its global portfolio.
  • In logistics: Kyndryl used AI to help Vietnam SuperPort™automate x-ray image analysis and validate documents.
  • In employment services: Quest is using AI to further personalize the user experience on its gig marketplace, improving the connection between businesses with open positions and skilled local talent, resulting in increased job matching and fulfilment rates.

Kyndryl’s recently launched People Readiness Report 2025 reveals a striking gap between AI investment and workforce preparedness, noting that 95% of businesses have invested in AI, yet 71% of leaders say their workforces are not yet ready to successfully leverage the technology. However, there is a small group (14%) of “Pacesetters” who are seeing the benefits from AI by aligning their workforce, technology and growth goals.

Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, recently released the second Global Sustainability Barometer study, commissioned by Microsoft. The study, conducted by Ecosystm, shows that most (82%) of Thai businesses don’t consider the environmental impact of their artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The research also shows that while 32% of companies in Thailand have increased their sustainability goals and program execution year-on-year, only 18% use IT for both internal footprint reduction and broader environmental goals.

“Thailand is at a critical juncture in its sustainability journey. The Global Sustainability Barometer study provides valuable insights into how Thailand can accelerate its journey toward a more sustainable future,” said Kittipong Asawapichayon, Managing Director, Kyndryl Thailand. “This study highlights the crucial need for Thai businesses to not only embrace data-driven decision-making and leverage technology but also foster collaboration and actively engage their workforce in sustainability initiatives. Many organizations struggle to translate their good intentions into concrete actions. By harnessing the power of data, AI, and collaborative action, we can bridge this gap, optimize resource allocation, and drive meaningful progress towards our environmental and social goals.”

Areas of Opportunity for Thai Businesses

The study found that while Thai leaders see the value of sustainability, they need to improve how they turn goals into data-driven actions by using technology, especially AI. The study’s detailed analysis and deep insights can help organizations across Thailand strengthen their sustainability efforts. To maximize impact, consider these key principles:

  • Make sustainability a business priority and foster a culture of collective responsibility. In Thailand, legal and risk teams shape sustainability vision and goals, followed by procurement and operations. This aligns well with the goal of building a sustainable value chain. It’s crucial to create synergy across teams, including a fully involved finance and IT, for more efficient sustainability planning and execution.
  • Place technology in a central role. While 32% of organizations in Thailand have ramped up their sustainability efforts in the past year, companies should move beyond just reducing their IT environmental footprint and leverage technology to achieve broader sustainability goals, such as optimizing operations and supply chains (52% are already doing this) or using AI to drive efficiency gains (47%).
  • Use AI efficiently, considering its environmental footprint. While AI is a proven game changer for defining sustainability strategies, organizations need to be aware of its broader environmental impact. Almost half (48%) of Thai businesses use AI for environmental monitoring, the study highlights a critical gap in understanding AI’s environmental footprint. Organizations in the country must prioritize responsible AI practices by measuring and mitigating the environmental impact of their AI solutions.
  • Prioritize seamless data synergy and integration to enhance collaboration. The biggest challenge in adopting sustainability measures for 40% of organizations in Thailand is overcoming the difficulty of accessing data across siloed systems. Organizations in Thailand should invest in and streamline data flow across departments, enabling faster decision-making, greater visibility, and ensuring sustainability initiatives are backed by accurate, real-time data.

Matthew Sekol, a Sustainability Global Black Belt at Microsoft, added, “Companies can gain the insights needed to deliver on their commitments and drive resilience by integrating sustainability data with operational and financial data, and using traditional data analytics and robust AI tooling to reshape operational efficiencies and foster sustainable innovations.”

นายกิตติพงษ์ อัศวพิชยนต์ กรรมการผู้จัดการ บริษัท คินดริล ประเทศไทย กล่าวว่า “ประเทศไทยอยู่ ณ จุดเปลี่ยนสำคัญบนเส้นทางสู่ความยั่งยืน ผลการศึกษา Global Sustainability Barometer ทำให้เราได้เห็นข้อมูลเชิงลึกที่มีคุณประโยชน์ว่า ประเทศไทยจะเร่งเดินสู่อนาคตที่ยั่งยืนมากขึ้นได้อย่างไร การศึกษาครั้งนี้เน้นให้เห็นว่ามีความจำเป็นอย่างมากที่ธุรกิจไทยต้องไม่เพียงใช้เทคโนโลยี และใช้ข้อมูลเป็นตัวช่วยในการตัดสินใจเท่านั้น แต่ยังต้องส่งเสริมให้เกิดการทำงานร่วมกัน และกระตุ้นให้พนักงานขององค์กรมีส่วนร่วมในโครงการด้านความยั่งยืนอย่างแข็งขัน องค์กรหลายแห่งพยายามที่จะแปลงความตั้งใจและแนวคิดที่ดีต่าง ๆ ให้เป็นการกระทำที่เป็นรูปธรรม การใช้พลังของข้อมูล, AI และการทำงานร่วมกัน จะช่วยให้องค์กรสามารถเชื่อมช่องว่างนี้ สามารถจัดสรรทรัพยากรได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ และขับเคลื่อนองค์กรสู่เป้าหมายด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมและสังคมได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ”

โอกาสของธุรกิจไทย

การศึกษาพบว่า แม้ว่าผู้นำองค์กรธุรกิจไทยจะตระหนักถึงคุณค่าของความยั่งยืน แต่ยังจำเป็นต้องใช้เทคโนโลยี โดยเฉพาะ AI มาช่วยปรับปรุงวิธีการแปลงเป้าหมายต่าง ๆ ให้เป็นการกระทำที่ขับเคลื่อนด้วยข้อมูลให้มีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น การศึกษานี้ทำการวิเคราะห์อย่างละเอียดและมอบข้อมูลเชิงลึกที่สามารถช่วยให้การดำเนินงานด้านความยั่งยืนขององค์กรในประเทศไทยมีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น หลักการสำคัญต่อไปนี้จะช่วยให้องค์กรได้รับประโยชน์สูงสุด

  • จัดให้ความยั่งยืนเป็นหนึ่งในลำดับความสำคัญแรก ๆ ของธุรกิจ และส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมแห่งความรับผิดชอบร่วมกัน สำหรับประเทศไทย หน่วยงานสำคัญที่จะกำหนดวิสัยทัศน์และเป้าหมายด้านความยั่งยืนคือทีมที่ดูแลด้านกฎหมายและความเสี่ยง รองลงมาคือทีมจัดซื้อจัดจ้าง และทีมปฏิบัติการ ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการสร้างห่วงโซ่คุณค่าที่ยั่งยืน การสร้างให้เกิดการทำงานร่วมกันของทุกทีมเป็นสิ่งสำคัญ รวมถึงทีมการเงินและไอทีที่ต้องเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้องอย่างเต็มรูปแบบ เพื่อร่วมกันวางแผนด้านความยั่งยืนและลงมือทำอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น
  • ให้เทคโนโลยีมีบทบาทสำคัญ แม้ว่าในปีที่ผ่านมา 32% ขององค์กรไทยได้เพิ่มความพยายามด้านความยั่งยืนอย่างมาก แต่บริษัทต่าง ๆ ควรก้าวไปให้ไกลกว่าเพียงเรื่องของการลดผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมจากการใช้ไอทีเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ควรใช้ประโยชน์จากเทคโนโลยีเพื่อให้บรรลุเป้าหมายด้านความยั่งยืนในวงกว้างมากขึ้น เช่น การเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงานและซัพพลายเชน (52% ทำแล้ว) หรือ การใช้ AI ช่วยให้ได้ประสิทธิผลมากขึ้น (47%)
  • ใช้ AI อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ และคำนึงถึงผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมจากการใช้ AI แม้ว่า AI จะเป็นเทคโนโลยีที่เข้ามาสร้างการเปลี่ยนแปลงต่อการกำหนดกลยุทธ์ด้านความยั่งยืน แต่องค์กรต่าง ๆ จำเป็นต้องตระหนักถึงผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมในวงกว้างจากการใช้ AI แม้ธุรกิจไทยเกือบครึ่ง (48%) ใช้ AI ในการติดตามเรื่องที่เกี่ยวกับสิ่งแวดล้อม แต่ผลการศึกษายังชี้ให้เห็นว่ามีช่องว่างสำคัญในการทำความเข้าในผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมจากการใช้ AI องค์กรต่าง ๆ ในประเทศไทยจึงต้องจัดให้ความสำคัญของการใช้ AI อย่างรับผิดชอบอยู่ในลำดับต้น ๆ ด้วยการวัดผลกระทบและลดผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมที่เกิดจากการใช้โซลูชัน AI ขององค์กรเอง
  • ให้ความสำคัญกับการบูรณาการและใช้ข้อมูลร่วมกันอย่างราบรื่น เพื่อเพิ่มความร่วมมือ 40% ขององค์กรไทยพบว่าความท้าทายที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในการใช้มาตรการด้านความยั่งยืน คือ การเอาชนะความยากของการเข้าถึงข้อมูลข้ามระบบต่าง ๆ ที่แยกส่วนกัน องค์กรไทยควรลงทุนที่จะทำให้เกิดการไหลของข้อมูลระหว่างแผนกต่าง ๆ ให้เป็นไปอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ซึ่งจะช่วยเพิ่มความเร็วในการตัดสินใจ ช่วยให้มองเห็นความเป็นไป ได้ชัดเจนมากขึ้น และทำให้มั่นใจได้ว่าโครงการด้านความยั่งยืนต่าง ๆ จะมีข้อมูลที่ถูกต้องแบบเรียลไทม์รองรับอยู่เบื้องหลัง

นายแมทธิว เซคอล ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านความยั่งยืนระดับโลก, ไมโครซอฟท์ กล่าวว่า “บริษัทต่าง ๆ สามารถเข้าถึงข้อมูลเชิงลึกที่จำเป็นในการขับเคลื่อนพันธกิจด้านความยั่งยืนและสร้างความยืดหยุ่นได้โดยบูรณาการข้อมูลความยั่งยืนเข้ากับข้อมูลการดำเนินงานและการเงิน และใช้การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลแบบดั้งเดิมร่วมกับเครื่องมือ AI ที่มีประสิทธิภาพเพื่อปรับเปลี่ยนประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงานและส่งเสริมนวัตกรรมที่ยั่งยืน”

คินดริลและไมโครซอฟท์ นำเสนอกลยุทธ์ที่ทำได้จริง เพื่อให้องค์กรวัดปริมาณการปล่อยมลพิษของโครงสร้างพื้นฐาน และปรับแต่งสถาปัตยกรรม AI ให้เหมาะสม รวมถึงโมเดล AI และ machine learning เพื่อลดการใช้พลังงานและลดปริมาณของเสียให้เหลือน้อยที่สุด คินดริลและไมโครซอฟท์ทำงานร่วมกันอย่างใกล้ชิดกับองค์กรทั่วโลกเพื่อให้มั่นใจว่า ความก้าวหน้าทางเทคโนโลยีมีส่วนสนับสนุนเชิงบวกต่อเป้าหมายด้านความยั่งยืนโดยปราศจากผลกระทบต่อการสร้างนวัตกรรม

นายอูลริช เลิฟเฟลอร์, ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร (CEO) และผู้ร่วมก่อตั้งของ Ecosystm กล่าวว่า “เรากำลังเห็นองค์กรในอาเซียนจำนวนมากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะองค์กรขนาดใหญ่และกลุ่มบริษัทต่าง ๆ จัดให้ความยั่งยืนเป็นกลยุทธ์สำคัญที่หลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้ และ AI มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อความคิดริเริ่มด้านความยั่งยืนเหล่านี้ โดยช่วยให้ธุรกิจใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ลดของเสีย และสนับสนุนให้เกิดผลกระทบเชิงบวกต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม ทิศทางนี้มีแนวโน้มจะส่งผลต่อตลาดอาเซียนในวงกว้าง เป็นการส่งเสริมระบบนิเวศแห่งความร่วมมือที่จะสร้างอนาคตที่มีความยั่งยืนและเท่าเทียมกันมากขึ้นให้กับคนรุ่นต่อไป”
